Valentine’s Week Pop-Up at Kit+Syl Studio featuring: Angie Cook, LMT
Post-holiday winter is known to be a quiet season in the North Country. As a new, local, business owner, I am acutely aware of this fact, what I signed up for, and the psychological somersaults I may have to do to remain motivated over the next few months. That being said, I have been so touched by the consistent support and enthusiasm I have received from the year-round residents that are braving these cold and quiet times right alongside me. It means the world whether someone comes in to buy a single flower or a larger purchase for a birthday gift, or even just to drop off some boxes that they would have otherwise thrown away, but figured I may be able to use. Every time someone new walks into the store and expresses excitement about my shop and the Whitcomb’s project it is a reminder of who I am showing up for each day.
Last February, when the world looked very different, The Essex Inn hosted a Valentine’s Day pop-up for my jewelry line. There were cocktails and live music and shopping! I was blown away by the attendance and positivity surrounding the event. It became clear that people in the community really appreciated an unexpected winter activity.
In the spirit of organizing something fun for the community, shining a spotlight on a few local businesses, and providing an excuse to come see what’s new at Whitcomb’s and Kit+Syl Studio, I have organized a Valentine’s Week Pop-Up series. Things will look different this year, but I know the talent that these ladies have to share with you will make up for the lack of live music and cocktails. All pop-ups will run from noon to 3 PM. Social distancing and masks are mandatory for attendance.
Wednesday, 2/10 will feature Angie Cook, LMT. Angie is a personal coach and essential oil educator. She will be offering complimentary 15 minute aromatouch hand massages! Please email hello@kitandsylstudio.com to reserve your time while there are still appointments available.
Saturday, 2/13 I am hosting Nichole Gerding, owner of Thankful Sage Farm School. Nichole is new to the area and will be showcasing her Heritage collection of beeswax candles and handmade soaps. Come meet your new neighbor and learn about her beautiful line of goods, knowledge, and talents.
For Valentine’s Day Sunday, 2/14 Reagan Monarch, founder of True Path Oracle will be in the studio. Reagan will be offering mini-sessions for aura cleansing and card readings for $14 per session. Your session will include a complimentary take-home gift. Book your session today by emailing hello@kitandsylstudio.com. Spots are going quickly!
In addition to these exciting pop-ups, Kit+Syl Studio will be open usual hours Wednesday-Sunday 11 AM-5 PM. The shop will be stocked with fresh, locally grown flowers for purchase by stem, bouquet or arrangement, new work from my handmade jewelry line, truffle and cookie boxes made by Essex Eats, and of course gifts by our talented local artisans. I’d like to take the days leading up to this week of love by introducing you to each of the local entrepreneurs who will be featured at Kit+Syl Studio on the day of their pop up. First up is Angie Cook, LMT. Please see my interview with Angie below.
Hi, Angie, what does Valentine's Day mean to you?
I think it’s a chance to spend some time really showing our loved ones that we love them. Love is more than just a feeling that we have for somebody but a chance to express this in small gifts and kind words.
How long have you lived in the area, and what brought you here?
I have lived in the Adirondacks for about 20 years with my husband Russ, son, Kaleb, and daughter, Hali. I am originally from Maine and I met my husband in college. He had a second home on Blue Mountain Lake where we had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time throughout college and beyond. My husband and I decided at a young age (we have been together for over 25 years) that we would someday raise our kids in Keene Valley because the school system is so wonderful. It’s crazy to look back on the fact that we are almost done with raising our kids and guiding them into adulthood. It is now an amazing honor to have them as our best friends.
Why do you do what you do?
I strongly believe that we can all do our part to make a big impact, to make the world a better place. We all have our own unique talents and gifts to offer others. My coaching helps my clients really learn how to leverage these talents to do their best in improving our World. This is very rewarding to watch people truly come into themselves and have their “aha” moments that help them begin to thrive. Additionally, I am a big environmentalist and believe that protecting beautiful places provides us with the healthy water, air, and emotional strength that we need in order to be healthy humans. I love working with environmental groups and coaching them to reach their mission. Offering people alternative health care with massage and essential oils is part of this big picture as well. I am passionate about the company that I work with, doTERRA. They work exclusively with small farmers and wildcrafters all over the world. Every oil comes from a small family or small village owned by the farmers or farmer collectives where the plants are grown. The company has very strict sustainability standards as well.
What is another local business you love and why?
Gratitude For Wellness. Melissa Maki, the owner is one of the kindest and most generous people I know. She gives her heart and soul to help support the local community and beyond by supporting and uplifting their health.
Angie Cook is a personal and business coach. She is also a massage therapist, AAS, CMCP and an essential oil educator. Angie received a BS in Environmental Studies. To receive your free wellness journal visit her contact page at: https://angiecookwellness.com/
On Wednesday, 2/10, Angie will be at Kit+Syl Studio offering complimentary 15 minute aromatouch hand massages. You will have the opportunity to choose your favorite oil and then sit and relax while breathing in these beneficial aromas. Contact hello@kitandsylstudio.com to reserve your treatment.
Angie will also be offering a chance to schedule a free 1-hour coaching session that will occur at a future date, determined at the event. These coaching sessions are designed to give you clarity in what your gifts, talents, and strengths are that you can apply to every aspect of your life. We are all born very uniquely and we can learn how to identify our own personal strengths and gifts that can be applied to business, personal and interpersonal growth. This is very powerful and life-changing! To learn more visit: https://angiecookwellness.com/
